The amount of time I invest on my hair is almost half the time I invest on my skin. Fact is, I know that my skin can take in a few experiments but I am very scared when it comes to my hair. I am not blessed with good hair in my genes and I only rely on natural and home-made solutions when it comes to my hair. My friends find it funny when I say I haven’t changed my shampoo brand since the last 8 years and when it comes to masking… I only go for home-made ones. I do visit the saloon for blow dry but that is very rare.

From the time I remember… I have had this ridiculously long hair. And I have my own set of hair problems – my scalp is very prone to dandruff, my hair is fizzy and difficult to manage, I have a lot of hair fall during the monsoons and my hair is naturally dry. And for every problem I have been trying home-made solutions and I must say… they never fail! And with no side effects you can be tension free and use regularly too ! 🙂

So here are 5 best hair masks you all can try which work for every season!

Lemon – For Itchy Scalp Treatment


Benefits of lemon on your scalp —

Take a tbsp of lemon and 1 tsp olive oil – Apply this mixture on your scalp and keep it on for 20 mins. Wash off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. If you have itchy scalp.. this mask works best!

Take a tbsp of lemon juice and a tsp apple cider vinegar – Apply this mixture on your scalp and keep if for 20 mins and wash off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. If you an oily scalp this mask is amazing!

Take the juice of a lemon and add 1/4 cup sour cream and 1/4 cup wheat germ oil – Apply this mixture from the root to tip of your hair and keep it for half an hour. Wash off with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo. Best for dry hair.

Curry Leaves – Making the Magic Hair Oil


You guys are going to thank me for this. This is the best hair oil you can find for your hair! There are never-ending benefits to this hair oil and it gets the name ‘magic oil’ for best reasons –

How to prepareTake two handful of fresh curry leaves and 500ml of organic coconut oil and put them in a heavy bottom pan. Heat this mixture till you find a black residue forming above the oil and the leaves slowly turn dark. This may splutter so make sure you are not peeping into the pan while the mixture is being made. After the residue is formed turn off the flame and let it stand till it comes to its normal temperature. Once the mixture is cooled down strain it and store it in a glass bottle.

How to applyGently massage your scalp with your fingertips while applying the oil. Concentrate most on the roots and tips of your hair.Leave it on for an hour and then rinse it with shampoo.

Banana – For Moisturized and Shiny Hair

All you need is : 2 ripe bananas + 1 tbsp olive oil + 1 tbsp honey — Mix all the ingredients in a bowl to a smooth consistency. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair until you cover everything. Let it sit for 15 minutes. Wash with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo.

Take 1 Banana and 1 tbsp olive oil — Take a couple of bananas and mash them into a smooth paste. To this paste, add 5 to 8 drops of almond oil. Apply to your hair. Tie it up and cover it with a shower cap for an hour.

Strawberry – For oily hair

All you need is 1 egg and 3 tbsp of warm green tea – Blend this mixture well into a creamy consistency and apply on you hair from root to tip. Wash off the mixture with normal water and a mild shampoo after 30 minutes.
