I did previously mention in my blog The Kbeauty Routine I Finally Settled For. that I shall be talking about all the 10 steps in Kbeauty and how I follow them and the also give a brief review of the product I am using for that particular step. So… let’s get started!
Before I jump into the first step of Kbeauty, ie Oil cleansing, let’s understand why Kbeauty insists us on double cleaning our skin.
What is double cleansing? Why is it necessary for all of us?
Double cleansing includes cleaning your face firstly with an oil based cleanser followed by a water based cleanser. The oil-based cleanser is used to remove oil-based impurities, including sebum, sunscreen and makeup. A water-based cleanser can be either foaming or non-foaming and is used to remove water-based impurities, including sweat and dirt. Scientifically, oil and water don’t mix and you need both, to gently and thoroughly draw out and remove both the oil and water-based impurities that build up naturally on your face throughout the day.
Skin that isn’t properly cleansed can be the root of many skincare woes. Everything from acne to discoloration to serums not working well to slow skin turnover to enlarged pores to excessive dryness. So we can conclude that, every skin type would benefit from the double cleanse tremendously, including oily or acne-prone or sensitive skin types. In fact, oily skin types will benefit significantly from using an oil-based cleanser first because it will gently remove excess sebum without stripping your face from the necessary oil and leaving it dry and flaky.
My Kbeauty Routine
I won’t say that I started using an oil based cleanser from the very first day I started following a skin care routine. In fact I though if I am not using makeup I don’t need to use an oil based cleanser. So it was only occasionally that I used one, and I did notice that the nights I used a oil cleanser my skin felt fresher in the morning. So I started asking fellow bloggers if they use a oil cleanser even if they aren’t using make up and the answer from everyone was “YES!!”. That’s when I thought of including this step permanently in my routine.
Step 1 – Oil Based Cleansing
I have a combination skin, which is prone to allergies and at times it gets dry and flaky in patches. I hardly use make up and I keep re-applying my sunscreen often when I am out. I know my skin type well. And because I am not into heavy makeup and the weather at my place is dry I wanted to get hold of a mild oil based cleanser and also a pocket friendly one.
I did check on a few Korean brands and the products had some really good reviews but… they were out of my budget.
It was only a month back when I went to buy groceries that I laid my hands on a perfect bottle of oil cleanser that suited my requirements and was within my budget.

What Garnier says – The 1st oil infused Micellar Cleansing Water, powerful at removing makeup, even waterproof yet surprisingly gentle on skin. For the 1st time, Garnier combined its Micellar Technology with nourishing Argan Oil. The Micelles capture and lift away residue like a magnet, while the oils dissolve traces of make-up and nourishes the skin. Result: Skin is perfectly clean, nourished and comfortable.

- Ideal for face, lips, and eyes.
Priced at – 399 INR for 400 ml
Appearance – The packaging is lovely in a clear sturdy plastic bottle with a white flip-top cap. It comes in 2 sizes so both easy to use & carry around. The other bottle comes at 125ml(I am not sure of the price of this size) which can be a travel friendly.
Ingredients – Aqua / water, cyclopentasiloxane, isohexadecane, argania spinosa oil / argania spinosa kernel oil, benzyl alcohol, benzyl salicylate, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, ci 60725 / violet 2, decyl glucoside, dipotassium phosphate, disodium edta, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, ethylhexyl salicylate, geraniol, haematococcus pluvialis / haematococcus pluvialis extract, hexylene glycol, limonene, linalool, pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate, polyaminopropyl biguanide, potassium phosphate, sodium chloride, parfum / fragrance.
Fragrance – I noted that there is fragrance added in the ingredients. I don’t find it particularly strong or lingering but if you are sensitive to scent, and have an aversion to the smell of argan oil, then I suggest checking Boots for a tester before you buy. However, for me, it smelled rich but subtly floral.
** Shake well before use
Though it is meant for waterproof makeup, at first swipe, it just manages to dislodge the clingy waterproof formulas while it does remove normal makeup in a single go. I had to go 2-3 times over my kajal, mascara & waterproof lip color before it finally managed to remove them cleanly but I did not have to pull/tug so I am pretty okay with it!
After makeup removal, my skin felt soft, supple & fresh without any oily residue & I loved how hydrated & clean my skin felt & looked. So the no-rinse part rung true in case of my case but I anyways go for a water cleansing after this step and i would recommend two-step cleansing for everyone out there. ** If twice a day feels too much for you just go for once a day before going to bed.

Not any for me.
Do I recommend this ?
Definitely! This is the first Garnier Micellar product that I have owned from their Micellar range and I think I am going to give the others a try too. And the product being pocket friendly is only a cherry on the top. And definitely a re-buy for me!
